The Newman Association is a student-run Catholic organization that serves the Lafayette community and city of Easton, Pennsylvania.
Although primarily a Catholic organization, Newman Association welcomes individuals of all religions. Newman offers a wide range of activities from which students can choose their involvement, including:
- Weekly Mass, led by our Catholic Chaplain Father Kevin Bobbin. Mass is held on campus in Colton Chapel every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Students serve as readers, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, liturgical band, etc.
- Weekend retreats either through the Intercollegiate Retreat with other colleges and universities in the Lehigh Valley, or at the St. Francis Retreat House in Easton. These retreats give students a chance to escape the chaos of school and reflect on their faith.
- Weekly spirituality group meetings for students to stay connected to their faith while away at college.
- Weekly discussion group to examine contemporary religious issues and topics.
- Service opportunities that offer students a chance to connect with the Easton community (Make a Difference Day, Catholic Charities of Phillipsburg, NJ, etc.).
- Social events planned by students that include game nights, bowling, movie nights, ice skating trips.
-
- Dinners that are open to the entire campus community and are often themed (Halloween costume dinner, Valentine’s Day dinner, etc.).
The Newman Association creates a caring environment in which students can explore their own personal interests while still being united by their faith. Newman meets every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. In-person meetings occur in the Grossman House Library. For virtual meetings, please contact a member of the board to request the Zoom link.
